Topic > State vs. Federal Government - 1032

Just as our federal government has its own laws, each individual state creates its own internal laws and functions as its own smaller government. How well a government runs can vary depending on which political party is in office at the time, nationally and locally. Current events, wars, or changes in our country's needs will affect how a form of government works. My state, Nebraska, is one of the most unique groups of governments among the fifty states. Nebraska can be compared and contrasted with the federal government in many ways. Laws and processes take the federal foundation combined with voters' ideas, and state-level needs shape how state officials make these decisions. Whether a state is Democratic or Republican in nature, this term is a variable factor in how offices are run. Many similarities can occur between state and federal governments. State governments function as miniature federal governments. They have legislative, judicial, and executive branches (although the three-branch structure is not required), and both follow many of the same legislative procedures. Each state tries to function as its own government, following federal guidelines. The legislative branch of the United States government is made up of two smaller divisions, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Each state has two members of the Senate and an equal number of House Representatives, based on population. Each state has representatives from their state governments who meet in Washington DC to help make some federal decisions for their state, pass laws, and nominate their state for federal funding as needed. in Nebraska there is the odd one that is in the middle of the paper and is inserted into the structure of government. Nebraska created its structure based on the needs and opinions of locals. You feel safer in a state that works the way you agree. Overall, Nebraska has a pretty unique government, which follows federal guidelines, but operates differently than your typical state. The government sets the stage, and Nebraska conservatives shape their own rules, keeping Nebraskans to their own comfortable, supported and running smoothly. Laws and regulations will always differ depending on which political party is in office at the time, but the close-knit citizens of Nebraska do their best to combine liberal and conservative wants and needs. This distinguishes the structure of our smaller government from the unique structure of the federal government. In the end everything depends on the people, the vote and our Constitution.
