We currently have a Director of Clinical Services who oversees all nurses, aides, care and daily activities. He is also responsible for delegating admissions, necessary visits and organizing the weekly meeting of our interdisciplinary team. The Director of Clinical Services works closely with our Patient Care Manager who primarily deals with admissions, quality control such as chart review and chart audits and assists the Director of Clinical Services with the daily activities of the 'office. Finally there are RN case managers who are responsible for caring for the patient load, making nursing visits, monitoring and evaluating patients, contacting doctors as needed, and making sure the patient has everything they need he needs to feel comfortable. The nursing department in my office uses the decentralized model of organizational philosophies. The decentralized model states that “decision making is spread throughout the organization (Huber, 2014, p. 247)”. I believe this is true because most decisions are made with and by the team in the workplace. One example was just the other day my director of clinical services was informing us that because we are growing and have had a great census for a while now, we could hire more nurses. He asked the entire team if they would like RNs on duty or more case managers, he was asking because he knows we have all been very busy, especially with on-call lately. Consensus in the team
