Topic > Slavery in America - 1025

Early in America's development there were many needs to be met. Like all countries, the foundation of these needs was based on money. How would they get the money? How could they have remained superior to all the parent countries? These were the struggles they faced. Between 1793 and 1860 slave ships arrived in America. The purpose of these slaves was to have them do all the work. This work involved farming, cleaning, construction along with gruesome hours of supervision. Americans monitored them so intensely because they knew that without them their economy would collapse. Although slaves were cruelly and brutally mistreated, without their labor and sacrifice our nation would have collapsed economically, leaving us a vulnerable and weak country. This means that slavery was a necessary evil. When we talk about slaves we can't help but think of their color that distinguishes them from the rest. The reasoning behind the color difference is due to their origin. They come from Africa. Many of them were brought here on boats to be traded. Only in the late 1800s were there many slaves born into slavery as Americans. Slaves arriving by boat were packed into another boat filled with other slaves like a can of sardines. For them, getting food on the boat was a very rare occasion and meant that when they did get food they had to savor it. They were forced to take care of their own and others' daily bodily functions until they reached land. Once they landed, their life wasn't much better. They were usually handcuffed with chains or ropes and drugged to be auctioned off. Many if men who were between eighteen and thirty were sold more often......half a paper......less but what would have happened if there had been no conditioners. It would have taken our country twice as long to revive the economy, or the economy would have taken so long to improve that the parent countries would have fed on our vulnerability and taken us over. It is not fair that slaves had to undertake all these immortalities, but without them America would not be what it is today. Slaves deserve recognition for their impact on our country. Slavery in America is behind us, but that doesn't mean people aren't still exploited. The big problem in the world today is human trafficking. Human trafficking: “organized criminal activity in which human beings are treated as commodities to be controlled and exploited”. Human trafficking statistics show that most kidnappings occur in coastal regions.
