However, "Car Crash While Hitchhiking" characterizes the protagonist more directly to reveal the protagonist's downfall to drugs. "Car Crash While Hitchhiking" and "Work" both follow the narrator's stream of consciousness, showing the influence of drugs on people's mindsets. Both stories are confusing with the narrator moving through time and place; it seems like the narrator talks about whatever comes to mind without a specific plot or message.
