Chicago: the city of the senses Chicago has been in the tourist spotlight over the years, thanks to its cultural and economic prosperity. The bustling streets, ethnic bakeries and famous shopping malls add taste and flavor to this enriching city. Ever since my brief visit in May with a high school class, I've dreamed of making the busy commutes, blinding, mind-altering lights, and pure musical excitement a part of my daily life. Commuters brought Chicago to life in delightful ways. Several groups of men and women sat together in small, informal street delis and conversed about cosmopolitan attitudes and modern ideas in popular culture. In another area of the city, men were dining at Berghoff and seemed separated from their surroundings, focused only on the conversation and the condition of the food being served. To be acceptable at such high prices, the food had to be impeccable. A look outside, from the intimacy of such a place, revealed to me a completely different world: commuters were constantly rushing, convinced that they would never arrive at their destination on time.
