My University EducationWhen I decided to attend State University, I imagined university education as an “Ivory Tower”. I thought I could drown myself in studies and not be affected by everyday life. Boy, was I wrong. I discovered in the fall of my freshman year that a college education is not the Ivory Tower I imagined it to be. I was working 32 hours a week and attending classes full time, so I didn't have as much time to dedicate to my studies as I would have liked. When I look at my college education now, I can imagine it as a trip that a family takes in the car. It's full of things you want to see, things you don't want to see, and things you don't care about. The family begins the trip by planning where to go and what to do. Similar to a college education, a person plans what major to pursue and what classes to take. Just as travel plans are always changing, college plans are always changing too.
