A world without oppression would be a world of abundant happiness. However, individuals have a certain way of asserting their aggressive need for authority over others. By doing so, they also impede the joys of others, as well as the happiness of the world. This act of oppression is considered bullying; Bullying is any way of making someone think of themselves as less than they are or could be. Sure, any human being will put their personal needs as priority over those of others, but it is immoral to knowingly cause another person to condescend to themselves or their peers. Anyone has the potential to be a victim of bullying. They could easily become bullies, although the most important ages for bullies are those who are still in elementary school. This is the result of children's immaturity combined with the freedom of interaction they are given. It is very difficult to get the quality education we will inevitably need if there are obstacles like harassment and inequality in the way. In the article An End to Bullying, the author states: “Bullying is, at its essence, a violation of human rights. It is the abuse of the powerless by the powerful, and it is a threat to the right to receive an education free from persecution” (Kennedy). Bullying is a disastrous habit to acquire, and we need our younger generations of children to understand the harms of it and eliminate it. Knowing that obvious torment of another's physical or emotional state is wrong, we must ask ourselves why people oppress others so harshly? Typically, teenagers battle issues of low self-esteem while bullies have an overflowing reserve of repressed anger over the problems they face.
