The “Four Freedoms” William Allen White said: "Freedom is the one thing you cannot have unless you give it to others." Freedom is a word that is worth its weight in gold and breaks chains when it runs without distinction of people. Franklin Delano Roosevelt born January 30, 1882. Politician who belonged to the United States Democratic Party; he was the 32nd president of his country. He began studying law at Harvard University, but then changed law to politics. Elected senator in 1911 and appointed secretary of the Navy in 1912. Additionally, he ran for president in 1920, but lost, and in 1928 was elected governor of New York. During the Great Depression of 1929 and its commitment to a new policy, known as the New Deal, which consisted of several programs that helped the bad economy that the United States was suffering at the time, the New Deal focused on the “three Rs”: Relief, Recovery and Reform. This is the relief for the unemployed and the poor; Resumption of the economy at normal levels; and reform of the financial system to prevent the depression from recurring. Roosevelt was very concerned about workers' wages, working hours, and the conditions in which they lived. The New Deal helped Roosevelt gain the trust of the American people which led him to rule the country and become the 32nd president of the United States. After overcoming the Great Depression, he worked hard to transform the United States into the world's leading power. In 1933 Roosevelt and the Soviet Union allied themselves in response to the threat of Hitler's Nazi Germans; began to launch a series of measures to prepare the country for a possible armed conflict, measures for the rest of its army, the war economy and alignment with other democratic powers... middle of paper.... . .Cited Berkin, Carol.
