There are many languages available to people and English is certainly one of the most important languages of all. The story By Any Other Name by Santha Rau shows how vital the English language is. The story revolves around an Indian girl and her sister and shows how crucial English is in the education system and shows its vast positive aspects such as developing a form of communication between others and a successful job future; as well as minimal negative aspects such as decreasing a person's cultural heritage. Another text, the article omg by Brenna Ehrlich, shows how both English and technology are intimately linked. Other sources such as Agard's poem Listen Mr. Oxfrod Don show why English is ultimately the most used language. Bill Bryson said, “Without a doubt, English is the most important language in the world, and it's not hard to find impressive statistics to prove it.” English is one of the most widespread languages in the world, but only up to a certain point. While English is critical, it should not be an important enough aspect to impact or destroy a person's ethnicity. As a result of the education system and our prerequisites in the world of work, the way we communicate through the use of technology and language, as well as the change of a language that forms a different variety of pidgin and creole; Today, English has become the lingua franca of the world. Education is one of the main aspects why English is as important as it is now. Education is a right and so people have decided to teach it as a common language. In the story By Any Other Name, Santha Rau describes the life of two Indian sisters, Premila and herself. The story shows how the British colonial power conquered India and c...... middle of paper ...... and through technology and changing a language forming pidgin and creole; can create a Lingua Franca. All authors, except Ehrlich, suffered from the downside of having English as the most popular language. Agard for being ridiculed for the way he wrote and Rau for losing his legacy. Yet everyone managed to overcome it because there are more positives to a Lingua Franca than negatives. Hopefully in the future we can have more than one Lingua Franca so that everyone is able to communicate and express themselves in the way they wish.
