In some countries every young man must serve in the military for two years. Is this a good idea? Should other countries follow this country's example? As we continue to face military conflicts around the world, some have proposed that the United States adopt a similar policy. I believe that a two-year national service commitment is completely out of place. Every young person should be able to choose to do whatever they would like to do. Think back to when you were 17 and you were 18, you wish someone would force you to go somewhere you don't want to go. I believe that every young man should not serve two years in the military unless he wants to. I believe this because forcing people to do what they don't want to do would create a sloppy military, it would be a violation of freedom, just as some people are simply not suited for the military. One of the reasons the U.S. Army is so powerful is because it is made up of volunteers.
