Acts of bullying in schools have reached alarming numbers across the nation. It is infiltrating the educational environment across the United States. Bullying has become an epidemic and the consequences are staggering. Children are afraid in the corridors of what should be a safe haven. Confidence and self-esteem suffer, which then results in poor work and a lack of concentration at school. Some of the dire circumstances that only became popular late have serious consequences such as suicide. It is not simply about a society, but a democracy that protects our youth, there must be a proactive way to effectively reduce the act of bullying to the point where it can become non-existent. An estimated 160,000 children are reported absent from school every day due to fear of attacks. or intimidation by fellow students (NESC). Another report shows that American schools are home to approximately 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million of their victims (Dan Olweus).
