Bram Stoker's Dracula is Anti-Christian There are many ways in which Bram Stoker's Dracula can be considered anti-Christian by displaying anti-Christian values and perversions of the Christian religion. In the first chapter, as Jonathan Harker travels to Castle Dracula, he meets several people. When he meets these people and tells them where he is going, they cross themselves and perform many other superstitious actions. One of the women he meets gives him a crucifix to protect him during his journey. This crucifix protects him when Jonathan cuts himself shaving and Dracula lunges for his throat and stops when he sees the crucifix around Jon's neck. Later in the book it is explained how to defend yourself from Dracula and other vampires by owning a crucifix or practically any consecrated object of the Christian religion that can be used to save yourself from the attack or presence of a vampire. For example, in the last of the book VanHelsing uses a Host to prevent Dracula from entering his coffin. Another time, during the night that Van Helsing and Lucy are outside near the courtyard of Dracula's Castle, Van Helsing makes a (Sacred circle) with the Host to keep the vampires away and to keep Mina safe in the (Sacred circle ). Another occasion in which the Host is used as a deterrent against vampires is when Van Helsing and the other men leave Mina alone in the house. Van Helsing touches a wafer to Mina's forehead and it burns in her head as she herself was impure. Another obstruction to the Christian religion would be the fact that Dracula sleeps in a coffin and especially because the ground in his coffin is consecrated and Dracula, being evil, uses this ground to rest. Dracula has many of the powers that Christians believe no one but God can control. . For example, Dracula can control the weather, wild or unclean animals, and can change shape and disappear into the air. Christians believe that consuming the body and blood of God will give them eternal life with God in heaven. Dracula achieves life after death or lives an afterlife on earth by consuming the blood of the living to survive, build his strength, and create more followers in his evil ways. In this way Dracula relies on humans to renew his life after death and therefore does not focus on God as the source of life. As Dracula feeds on the blood of the living, he creates followers like Jesus had disciples. Dracula has evil ways and spreads his evil not through sexual reproduction as God intended
