During an interview on Morning Edition with Ted Cruz and Steve Inskeep (host), the senator states that “the scientific evidence does not support global warming…satellites that actually measure temperature have showed no significant warming whatsoever.” This was an interesting statement because scientists generally show that climate change is evident. Focusing on Cruz's word choice “no significant warming” is smart because when interpreting the data, it depends on what is defined as insignificant. For example, data shows that the global average temperature has increased by an average of 6 degrees Celsius. This can be considered insignificant because 6 is such a small number. However, this is actually a dramatic global average temperature. Additionally, a Washington Post article discusses Ted Cruz's claim that "many global warming alarmists" have no evidence to back it up, and presents his evidence that "there has been no warming recorded in the last 15 years." ”. Not only does he target climate change believers as “alarmists,” which makes them appear to be overreacting to climate change, but he also exaggerates when he claims there is “no recorded warming.” However, the article proves Ted Cruz wrong when he quotes a scientist as saying, “If you look at the data since 1980, it's pretty clear that there's an upward trend. But if you look at a 15-year period, it's much less clear that the trend line you're riding actually means anything," Mears
