The abundance of multimedia data and information is challenging teachers to effectively search, browse, access, use, and store data for classroom teaching. However, many teachers may still be accustomed to teaching or seeking information using conventional methods that may not work well with multimedia data. Educators must also efficiently interact with and manage a variety of digital media files. The purpose of this study is to review the current use of multimedia database applications in teaching and learning and further discuss some of the issues or concerns educators may face when incorporating multimedia data into their classrooms. Goals to be achieved may include improving the adaptation of multimedia data into classroom teaching. We also provide some strategies and recommendations for teachers to use multimedia more effectively in their teaching environments. From here we can expect more and more educators to be experts in database management systems.
