A compare and contrast essay: (a creative title is needed) "Art must be an expression of love otherwise it is not Nothing." Art is just that, one of the many ways people can express love. LOVE by Robert Indiana and The Kiss, by French sculptor Auguste Rodin, are just two sculptures that demonstrate love. LOVE is a structure of the word love in red with the first two letters above with the "O" slanted and the last two letters below the first two, which is publicly displayed in New York City. The Kiss can now be found in the Rodin Museum in Paris, France. The sculpture depicts two characters of the opposite sex kissing. The materials and colors used in the two sculptures, as well as the aspect of love they represent and the story behind the sculptures, The Kiss seems to be more romantic. Neither LOVE nor Il Bacio are made with the same materials or colors. The LOVE sculpture was made of weather-resistant steel. The red and blue colors of this structure are incredibly hard to miss while walking along West 55th Street or Avenue of the Americas in New York City. The statue of the Kiss, however, was sculpted in bronze and marble. Unlike LOVE, the harsh grayish white stone color of The Kiss sculpture has a very chilling atmosphere, but somehow it is still one of the most romantic sculptures some have ever seen. Although both sculptures, LOVE and The Kiss, are about love, they touch on different aspects of love. The structure of LOVE illustrates love in general, as a whole. The word love can be interpreted as the love a parent feels for their child or even the love for an object. On the other hand, The kiss can be interpreted as ecstasy or even lust. Although The Kiss seems to be seen as the more romantic of the two, LOVE demonstrates love better because... the medium of paper... influential on a person's life may be why it is so widely used as a subject or theme of any type of art. Romance, which is the emotional attachment between people who love each other, is a common way artist can visually demonstrate love in their artwork. While materials and colors have a lot to do with the visual aspect of the artwork's display of love, the aspect of love that the artwork displays as well as the story behind the artwork itself they can make the artwork not just about love, but also about romance in love. Many would agree that LOVE and The Kiss both demonstrate love, however, The Kiss is the more romantic of the two.
