On Images Concrete images are like images in the mind's imagination that have been transferred from real objects through the eyes. Abstract images also exist in the imagination, but they are not easily described or communicated. Both images interact in various ways as a person experiences emotional, dreamlike, and pure thought states of consciousness. Despite the interaction, the two types of images do not merge or merge into a third type of image as a graduation between the two. Concrete images change, sometimes drastically. They never become abstract images, no matter how distorted they are. Abstractions are somewhat presupposed and exist as spontaneous and sometimes irrational images in the mind's eye. Light, reason, infinity, and nothingness are examples of abstract images that cannot be given an accurate visual representation. The images take on different meanings regarding language, death, prayer, society or politics; but the two types remain distinct. All human beings experience both concrete and abstract images. However, the level of ability to think abstractly varies from person to person. For Aristotle, the most important and most pleasant of the senses is the sense of sight. (1) The human eye receives an image with the use of light. Seeing the physical world outside us occurs when light reflects off objects, passes through the eyes, and presents an image to the mind. It is believed that these images are not unique to each individual person because they are communicated and described back and forth, thus weakening the solipsist's struggle. In this article, abstract and concrete images will be defined through the discussion of imagination and mind. Apparently the mind works in such a way that many images occur without any mechanistic equation telling us how. Imagination is familiar and so are images, but it is the wonder and challenge of how they interact that deepens our understanding. It is argued here that the boundary between the two types of images is clear and evident, and not a graduation. The images are concrete or abstract, with no middle ground. By concrete image we mean a sort of image present when we see something or when we close our eyes and remember it. The image seems to be present as a form external to ourselves in the object and in our mind at the same time. It is an image that has color and real properties such as shape and texture.
