I got to see what police records look like and how different files are labeled. I also got to express my opinions on each case. It really felt like I was part of the law firm because my opinion mattered so much. I would look at a case and see if I would believe the client. Sometimes there were cases where I thought the person was innocent or there was at least some doubt, but most of the time it was pretty clear that he did it. It was even clearer when I watched the clients' video and told the lawyer how the client behaved in the video. There was one client who admitted everything in the video, but still wanted to deny the accusation later. The last case I worked on I had to read through a stack of medical records to determine our client's bruises and those of the victim. There was a lot of reading to do, but it had to be done to see if the client had a case. In the end the client had no strong arguments, but I think the lawyer will try to find a solution for him. Even as I watched the videos I could see how the police act in Sioux City. Some cops are sometimes vulgar and their police reports are not very helpful. For the most part they are doing a good job. I haven't had the chance to meet all the clients and won't be able to see what happens with their cases, but I'm happy to have it
