Proofreading Proofreading is when you or someone else reads a document, such as an application letter, and tries to spot any errors in it. Proofreading is better than spell checking a document because if someone reads it they will be able to tell whether or not there are grammatical errors whereas a spell checker will not notice as long as the word is spelled correctly.
