When we grow up we learn to know many things, but for various reasons we are unable to think about them. There may be things we have forgotten; or have intuition or sense for what we sometimes find ourselves desperately struggling to put into words, what the British psychoanalyst Christopher Bollas called “The Unthought Known.” Memories of these experiences live on the border between our conscious and unconscious minds. The stress we feel in our body is one of the main ways to track and discover much of the content of this unthought Known. Scientifically the unthought known is created virtually from conception until birth and in our early years, the brain stores stressful experiences without the benefit of language. Normally, everyone has this trauma in their life. Significantly, many writers have shown this traumatic experience in their works. Jayne Anne Phillips is one of the best-known contemporary post-modern feminist writers in American literature. She is the author of numerous collections of literary pieces and whose works have been translated into twelve languages. In Bollas, unconsciously, everything was inculcated in the memory of the being like the fetus in the mother's womb. In the novel 'Quiet Dell' Phillips showed this trauma through two characters. It was written on October 13, 2013. It was written based on the real incident that happened in Quiet Dell in 1931, West Virginia. “Tranquil” means calm; here the place known for calm turns into chaos. The characters Harry and Annabel are introduced to this unexpected knowledge. Due to the Great Depression, Dutch immigrants to West Virginia began advertising for companionship in the marriage bureau called “lonely hearts.” By registering on this site...... half of the sheet......") pg 05. My grandmother said that one day I could find myself on a stage as an actor or author of a play (pg .03). throughout the novel this trauma is visible in both characters. In Annabel the positive attitude towards her parents' life has been stored in her mind and in Harry it comes from his ancestors. In every individual it may be the ghost or the unthought known that governs. Unknowingly sometimes we are not aware of it and sometimes we know it but we are unspeakable.
