Denying a person's right to death is like denying them the right to life. Not only does it violate our Constitution and our liberties, it violates the most fundamental ideas about what freedom from oppression means. 238 years ago, when the United States declared independence, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were guaranteed in the first lines. While these ideas have rarely been true for everyone throughout history, regardless of ethnicity, color, or creed, they have been an ideal pursued by those who have worked to increase our freedoms. These ideas have guided us out of oppression and towards a freer and better world. It's time to continue embracing them by legalizing euthanasia. Doing this will put an end to the suffering of people who will die anyway. Euthanasia is not trying to kill grandma, but eases her pain when she is terminally ill with two weeks to live.
