Topic > Counter-Terrorism Unit - 2690

Introduction*Note: Information regarding the formation of CTU is fictitious. Terrorism is one of the major concerns of the 21st century. It is a method that has been embraced by many groups with many different ideologies. It has the potential to cause grave devastation, especially with the specter of nuclear, biological and chemical acts of terrorism. There have been many references by both the media and politicians to a “War on Terror,” and if we want to characterize it as a war, it is a war with an ill-defined and shifting enemy, with no front line, and a war that is fraught of moral dilemmas. In this committee we will simulate the other side of this battle: the terrorist groups that exist around the world. This committee will be composed of representatives from each of the terrorist groups described in this basic guide, with the exception of ETA and FARC. Purpose of the Committee As a result of efforts to form an effective Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) composed of major powers around the world In the world, the leaders of many terrorist groups have decided to similarly increase cooperation to defeat the imperialist West and the growing Westernization and demoralization of the world. Compared to previous attempts at international cooperation, this CTU represents a serious attempt to join forces internationally and destroy our ability to resist. As a truly global effort, it will have the credibility and resources to succeed where previous Western efforts have failed. This new CTU threatens to take away what little sovereignty we have left, drowning our cultures and beliefs under the wave of Westernization and liberalism. We can no longer allow our governments to be puppets... middle of paper... 10, Web. 25 May 2010. .“Lashkar-e-Taiba”. South Asian Terrorism Portal.
