Significance of the Study The results of this study may be valuable in three ways. First, they could guide admissions staff and decision makers at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in identifying whether high school GPA and entrance test scores help predict the academic performance of students attending colleges. higher education institutions. This study could also help them in developing future admission plans and student retention programs in Yemeni universities and colleges, resulting in changing all admission policies. Additionally, the findings of this study may help high school counselors at the Department of Education meet the college transition needs of their graduating students by being able to better identify potential at-risk students. Second, the findings could guide education stakeholders in Yemen to review testing policy as well as the quality of high school assessments and college entrance tests. Third, this study will fill a research gap in studying the academic performance of students attending Yemeni colleges and thus serves as a rationale for future research to be conducted in this area or the psychometric area. Definition of Terms For the purposes of this study, a glossary of commonly used terms and concepts is needed: High School GPA: The high school GPA is calculated based on the total weighted scores obtained from the examination results of all subjects studied only in the twelfth year. Admissions Test: A test used to evaluate students' preparation for admission to a graduate institution.
