There has been a growing movement of advocates who want to take this concept and apply it to video games, a gamification of education. All of this would actually imply that formal educational institutions need to engage students through the use of games and the design elements of these games. The theoretical simplicity of this goal does not mean that this goal should be dismissed as easy or not useful. Schools are facing a crisis right now where students are struggling to engage in school; an engagement problem is not just limited to schools, it is an issue that affects society as a whole. As a society, too much time and effort has been devoted to making recreational activities, our game, more engaging and fun compared to the fact that real life activities have grown with an increasingly negative connotation. The work is boring, frustrating, and is something that should be left alone in favor of the game. If updating your social media feed is more engaging than school or work, then something is wrong. The goal of gamification, and indeed of all institutions of work and education, should be that all work is play and that all play enriches our lives. This should be the purpose behind it
