In 1950, a gallon of gasoline cost only 20 cents a gallon (Fifties Web). More than 60 years later, the price is now just under four dollars, a price that makes many people shudder. This price is known to undergo dramatic changes due to the unpredictability of oil availability. The oil-rich countries of the world tend to have unstable governments which can create an obstacle when trying to obtain oil, as well as cause resentment between countries and governments in certain scenarios.1. Basic Information Over the years, some regulations have been adopted by individual states in order to increase mandatory fuel efficiency in new vehicles. Some states, such as California, have made several proposals on this issue. The California Energy Commission's Alternative and Renewable Fuels and Vehicle Technology Program Investment Plan 2010-2011 aims to "develop and utilize alternative and renewable fuels and advanced transportation technologies to help achieve the state goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependence in the transportation sector” (CEC) is the perfect example of such an act. However, some of these plans have not reached other states due to various concerns regarding the dangerousness of cars smaller and the lower revenues from fuel taxes. Even considering these reasons seriously, the US government should enact stricter regulations to increase fuel efficiency in new vehicles sold in the United States2. Dependence on an unstable productThese stricter regulations have more than enough reasons to be implemented. Despite the increase in gasoline prices, many countries, such as the United States, are still heavily dependent on these fuels. In order...... middle of the sheet......ads 72.3 (2008): 18+.
