Topic > Analysis of Dr. Strangelove - 1167

In the book titled Playing Politics with Science: Balancing Scientific Independence and Government Oversight, this author wrote that “During the Cold War, President Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Reagan they considered investments in scientific research important to defend the country from the threat of Soviet imperialism” (Resink, 2009). This film warns of relying on science to solve political problems. As we know from the title of the film, Doctor Strangelove, director Stanley Kubrick wanted to show that people put absolute faith in science, which could cause the worst mistakes in human history. Therefore, in the film, the Doomsday Device goes into operation due to the computer's control system to indicate that the computer cannot be relied on to solve the problem.
