Born in a time of social unrest and racial discrimination, Michael Luther King Jr. better known as Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929. Martin Luther King Jr. was the eldest son and second son of the Rev. Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. Michael Luther King Jr.'s name was changed by his father at about age 6 when he decided to name himself and his son Martin Luther King. Little is known about MLK Jr.'s primary education only that he was a very smart guy who enjoyed learning. He attended local segregated public schools in Georgia, where he later graduated from high school at the age of fifteen. He then enrolled at Morehouse College where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1948. MLK Jr. decided to continue expanding his education by attending Crozer Theological Seminary from 1948 to 1951 and then attending Boston University's school of theology.
