The excerpt from the book Walden by Henry David Thoreau guides us through Thoreau's extensive mystical experience as he attempts to discover how to live with the guidance and observance of Nature . In this excerpt he cares about Nature and its elements. Thoreau's main reason for moving to the woods near Walden Pond is to understand what it means to live. For him, Nature in a certain sense traces a path towards understanding life. On this “path” created by Nature, one is taught to be simple so that complication is minimal. He also portrays Nature as a gentle entity, saying that it is both innocent and beneficial. Thoreau describes Nature not only as a guide to learning how to live, but also as an active example of what life should be. In my opinion Thoreau shows nature as a factor that primarily influences life. Besides this we see that Nature does not only influence human life, but is also influenced by human life. So in a sense the two are interdependent on each other. An example is when he describes the way in which men, or human beings, emerge from their sense of dissatisfaction when the winter days go away and the spring days....
