Leisure is such an important part of human life that it has been included as a fundamental human right by the United Nations. Free time can involve doing things that make you feel good and provide a sense of pleasure. Free time is therefore linked to good health as it reduces stress resulting from the pressures of daily life. The actual amount of free time and the activities that people do in their free time vary considerably between and even within societies and cultures based on differences in age groups, gender, social class and personality type (Carr, 1997). This essay is a study of the impact of these and other factors on the choice of leisure activities. To understand the impact of various socio-cultural factors on leisure activities I developed and analyzed my leisure activities during a typical week (attached in the appendix). The goal is to actively and consciously understand the factors that shape my free time and activities. The essay begins with a summary of my free time activities that gives an idea of ​​a typical week in my life. This is followed by a critical analysis of the socio-cultural factors, which in my opinion influence my choice of recreational activities and the time I dedicate to them. I have found that my free time and activities have been strongly influenced by the combination of the following two socio-cultural factors: the sedentary lifestyle brought about by the advent of the Internet and the emphasis on maintaining an active and healthy. The Internet has undoubtedly made social interactions easier and faster, but at the same time it promotes a busy and inactive lifestyle that needs to be consciously balanced with targeted physical activities. I tried to understand how much the choice of recreational activities depends on my socio-cultural environment. From the analysis I came to the conclusion that the economic context certainly influences both the time and the type of recreational activities. Interestingly, age has a significant impact, although not in the context of physical abilities and mental interests. People from different age groups, in my opinion, have socially expected tasks. This has made young people busier and more time-constrained than older people, thus affecting their leisure activities. However, the greatest impact of recreational activities has been the advent of technology – primarily mobile communication and the Internet – which has led to the explosive growth of social media as a form of mass recreational activity..
