Topic > Analysis and comments on Bill Gate's article: How to...

After reading Bill Gates' article “How to Fix Capitalism”, I completely agreed with the various ideas stated by Bill Gates and I believe that creativity capitalism can and should be an effective way to make the world as a whole a better place. In the following essay I will try to explain the current situation, explaining some of the background that has brought us to this situation, laying out what a government can try to do to help correct the situation, expanding the possible systems that can attract companies to help and finally an example of how companies can start to help. Creative capitalism is an effective way to increase the well-being of humanity as a whole and should be encouraged. The richest humanity sees the most improvements, while the poorest sees the least of these improvements. Through capitalism the world has changed enormously in a short space of time. A number of new technologies have been innovated, especially in the last 100 years. Humanity as a whole is much better off than before. For example, most of us are able to take a plane to travel from one country to another in a day or have fairly easy access to advanced healthcare. In a word, as Bill Gates said in his article “How to Fix Capitalism”, “Capitalism has improved the lives of billions of people, something that is easy to forget” (Gates). But the situation isn't getting better fast enough, and it isn't getting better for everyone. Many people live on less than a dollar a day, and it can be extremely difficult for a person in such a situation to climb out of poverty without the help of others. Capitalism has the ability to harness self-interest in a useful and sustainable way, but only on… middle of paper… this kind of innovation makes a huge difference. You are less tempted to rob if you don't have cash. (Gates) In conclusion, creative capitalism is already in place and doing its best, but there is much more that can be done. Many companies forget that the poorest two-thirds of the world's population have a combined purchasing power of approximately $5 trillion. Governments can also help by investing in creating more creative incentives. They can also ensure that companies receive publicity for doing good work to shine a light on those who help others. Customers of these companies can help by purchasing products from companies that help society. If more companies follow the lead of the most creative organizations in their industry, they will have a big impact on some of the world's worst problems, and together we can make a change for the better.
