Recent technological advances have had a huge impact on the current criminal justice system. These new developments have made it easier for industry practitioners to track down criminals and help provide better evidence to support their cases. Things like fingerprint databases, DNA tests, GPS tracking, and many other things have made it easier for prosecutors and defendants to prove their cases in court. This is very beneficial because with this new wave of technology officials are now able to provide more reliable and credible evidence in court. The current surge in technology will help many people in the industry. People like law enforcement, falsely accused criminals, prosecutors, defendants, judges, the list goes on and on. Technology has had a major impact on the criminal justice system, it has now made it easier to track down and catch criminals and has made the evidence given in court more reliable and credible. New types of technology have made it easier to track and catch criminals. It also made it easier for prosecutors to gather and present more credible information. Some new technologies that have made it easier to track criminals or help provide more reliable and supportive evidence are things like DNA testing, computer technology, fingerprinting, and GPS tracking devices. “The key strengths of technology in the criminal justice system lie in providing databases that allow for better and more efficient document storage and retrieval” (Bean 370). Prosecutors now in a sense have “…an infallible truth test, an infallible method, for determining the accuracy and reliability of evidence and therefore convictions” (Pallaras 72).
