Managers must be self-assured and confident in taking on the lead role by following directions and being able to give directions. Managers must have a strong personality and assertiveness when the opportunity presents itself. Being able to collaborate with top management shows strength. Excellent coaching skills are needed because this will make up a large part of the tasks. Most managers are taught to focus on results rather than methods. Communication and dialogue are the most effective methods to know what is happening in intercultural and diverse environments. Business success depends on the quality of communication and understanding that exists between executives, managers, supervisors, other colleagues and customers. Staff must know the elements of professional behavior and it is the manager's responsibility to educate staff in compliance with these standards. As a cross-functional team leader, it is imperative to recognize the talent and contribution of each employee. Team leaders must establish ways to keep teams focused on goals, measurements and results. Staff should be able to foster a sense of diversity, interdependence and responsibility towards each other and customers. Resolving conflicts between staff or through customer complaints is another technique you need to learn and maintain.
