Topic > Literary Analysis "A very old man with enormous wings"...

Throughout history, many people have witnessed events they cannot explain. People want to believe in the supernatural and the unknown, but perhaps they have never encountered anything strange or strange. The old man with wings, the main character of "A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings", written by Gabriel Garcia Márquez, was a misunderstood individual throughout his time on earth. The author uses details of the old man's personality and describes several strange events that happen to demonstrate the difference between natural and supernatural. Gabriel Marquez published "A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings" in the collection Leaf Storm, in 1955 (David). "Gabriel García Márquez was born in Aracataca, Colombia, on March 6, 1928. Historically, the country was a rural nation of landowners, farmers, villages, and small towns. History is deeply rooted in culture, and this culture has a strong influence on García Márquez's fiction." (Tillburg, Elizabeth Van and Kelly Goodall). Marquez was inspired to write his stories based on where he grew up, Columbia. Maybe Marquez was poor as a child. Connection to Pelayo and Elisenda who were poor in their small village. The setting of the story takes place in the house of Pelayo and Elisenda. The weather in the setting is dark and damp as their house fills with crabs that are washed up from the sea. The author mentions the presence of a seriously ill newborn, with a very high fever. Out of nowhere, an old man with huge wings flies into the environment. Pelayo and Elisenda are very skeptical when the angel appears. The first thing they noticed was that the angel was very old and had angel-like wings. When the angel falls into the mud, in the... center of the card... g, we know nothing about him or what his true purpose actually was but, more importantly, the story is meant to give the reader a glimpse into what people are willing to do with supernatural events and their perception on that type of thing without actually knowing what its true purposes are.
