Social issues were involved immensely in this novel such as depression, rape, suspense and drama. Young adults who read this story will be able to expand their knowledge as they adapt to the mix of tension with her peers, a young girl dealing with high school problems and self-harming. Since Hannah was a young teenager (just like most readers), dealing with high school and its package of hate, rumors, and relationships, it can all take a toll on a human being. Fiction was included in this novel and without some unrealistic events that happened in this story, this book would have been unexciting. And this is where social issues, suspense and drama enter the world of fiction. Without the fiction and creativity, this novel would have just been about a young girl living her high school life and the drama she would have to deal with, there would be no creativity or anything suspenseful, or even the need to continue reading it makes me wonder what will happen next. The writers were creative about the plot
