DataWhen data is processed, organized, structured or presented in a given context in order to make it usable, it is called Information. Data are raw facts and figures that have not been given meaning. For example, the following list could be described as a set of data: 1,3,5,7,9. Data can be assigned context or meaning. Data is computerized information that must be typed by someone into a computer. For data to be useful, it must be accurate and reliable. Data is entered into most companies as they take names, surnames, date of birth so that company information can be sent to these people who provide information. This information will be entered into customer relationship management or CRM to be stored for the company. Data will be collected from an entry and exit system used in the workplace, such as the Blackpool tower, to determine the amount of hours an employee works each week. and the amount of pay resulting from these hours of work to ensure they are paid correctly and on time. People People have to enter data into information systems, therefore they are responsible for the correctness of the data. If the data was incorrect, the information coming out of the system may not be reliable or may be unreliable and will have to be repeated. For example, if the HR payroll system recorded the wrong hours for an employee, they would be paid incorrectly. This would give the company a bad name and not a very good reputation. This would tie into the decision-making marketing system because if you are responsible for ordering stock and have excess inventory, this would result in ordering stock that you don't need. Hardware Hardware in businesses should be flexible...... middle of paper ......reports in an organized manner. For example, a company might create a database about its customers that describes relationships in enough detail so that management, salespeople, people providing the service, and perhaps the customer directly can access the information, meet customer needs customers with product plans and offers, remind customers of service requirements, know what other products a customer has purchased, and so on. Decision Support System A Decision Support System (DSS) is an interactive computer-based system or subsystem intended to help decision makers use communication technologies, data, documents, knowledge and/or models to identify and solve problems, complete the activities of decision making and making decisions. Decision support system is a general term for any computer application that improves a person or group's ability to make decisions.
