Generation "Y" has many things about them that make them slightly different from all their predecessors. These people are known to be very ambitious, computer savvy, and extremely technically capable. But in addition to these three very important characteristics they have lower standards of education, a sense of entitlement and are extremely dependent on their parents. However, with this unique combination of characteristics, this large group of people has turned into an entire generation that strives to be much more than its predecessors. Generation “Y” defines people born between the late 1970s and early 1990s, although in Australia it is strictly between 1983 and 2000. They have many names, such as Millennial, Generation We, Echo Boomers and Peter Pan Generation. This generation is also the largest in history, with 76 million people growing up in it. With all these people constantly thinking of new things, there must have been some good things that came out of it. One of the main differences and perhaps the greatest advantage that young people of Generation "Y" have is constant connection. The ability to talk to anyone; whether it's texting, email or even video chatting, it's something completely new. While most tools used to accomplish these things, such as the telephone and computer, Generation “Y” took these ideas and ran with them. While the computer has been around for years, the Echo Boomers (generation “Y”) created Facebook, YouTube and many of the applications that people use every day. They have advanced the technology by leaps and bounds, compared to the steady speed it had gone through in the previous years. Now it appears this is a new model of the same pho... middle of paper... ethics, for the most part it's hard to blame them for the way they were raised to believe they should be treated. Hopefully they realize these negative traits and fix them when they raise their kids so this isn't a big problem for Generation Z.Works CitedAshkin, Jeffrey. “What makes Generation Y unique?” Sentinel of the sun.
