Lifespan development is essential, as it concerns the changes that occur throughout a person's life. Our development occurs in the age stages in which we develop from infancy until death. This essay will contain my life story to show the domains in 5 age stages in the development of my life. The domains that I will explore in this essay are the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, cultural and moral domains. Biological and environmental influences play a significant role in my development. Development is influenced by nature or nurture and its effect will occur throughout the lifespan. The changes that occur during development have stages. Every theorist has developmental stages in which he shows changes. This essay will explore my development which will support theorists such as Erikson, Vygotsky, Berk, Piaget and other theorists. Prenatal age stages will show physical and emotional dominance, infancy (0-2) will represent social and emotional dominance, toddlers (2-6) will show cognitive and social dominance, middle childhood (6-12) will show socio-emotional dominance. cultural and moral domination and adolescence will represent nature as opposed to education and cultural domination. Development is fundamental to healthy well-being. As a physical therapist it is important to understand development across age stages, as it will help to know how young children will react compared to an adolescence who is more developed mentally, emotionally, physically, socially and culturally. Emotional and physical mastery in the prenatal phase are necessary for the growth of the child (Watson & McDonald, 2007).
