Text messaging also known as SMS or short message service is just that, a service that should be used to send short messages. You can't keep up with someone's life through a service that limits the number of characters you can use. You can see cell phones in places you once couldn't see them, like funerals, weddings, dinner parties, and even in bathrooms. Doesn't that sound like an obsession to you? People can't put the phone down. I've seen people who have to go without their phone for a period of time and it feels like their whole world is about to collapse. People seem to be getting validation from social media that was once reserved for their family and friends. You can observe the enjoyment people have when they get a like on their favorite social media site.
