Do you find it annoying? I think if there are no rules in place about technology in social situations, you should do it. In today's world it seems that we are always online and watching other people's lives through some social network or playing some game on our phones. Social media and technology like text messaging only give people a glimpse into the lives of those around us, but it doesn't really give you the socialization you would get through face-to-face interaction. Text messaging also known as SMS or short message service is just that, a service that should be used to send short messages. You can't keep up with someone's life through a service that limits the number of characters you can use. You can see cell phones in places you once couldn't see them, like funerals, weddings, dinner parties, and even in bathrooms. Doesn't that sound like an obsession to you? People can't put the phone down. I've seen people who have to go without their phone for a period of time and it feels like their whole world is about to collapse. People seem to be getting validation from social media that was once reserved for their family and friends. You can observe the enjoyment people have when they get a like on their favorite social media site.
