Every manager must have a set of fundamental principles, values and beliefs that he or she must follow. These principles, values and beliefs constitute its management philosophy. Webster defines philosophy as “the most basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group.” (Webster) I will discuss the principles, values and beliefs I will have as a manager to do my job effectively. I will also discuss the different biblical beliefs that support my management style. I believe in a directive and conceptual decision-making style. When there is a small problem that requires a quick solution, I would use the directive decision-making style. This would be similar to a problem I would have faced in the past. For the biggest obstacles that come my way, I would take the conceptual approach. With the conceptual decision-making style, I can hold meetings with other members of my staff and brainstorm different solutions to solve the problem. This would ultimately lead to the best and most efficient solution. A manager must be in constant communication with his staff. Lack of communication can lead to misunderstandings and dissatisfied employees. “Communication is the most important skill of every manager.” (About.com) I believe this statement from about.com is absolutely correct. To lead, a leader must communicate his orders to his followers. “Slaves must be submissive to their masters in all things; let them be acceptable, not polemical, not thieves, but show all good faith, so that in everything they adorn the doctrine of God our Savior." (Titus 2:9-10) This verse contains good guidelines on how employees should treat their employers. A manager must respect his employees for being... at the center of the paper... his staff; it should instead use a democratic and permissive management style. This will allow him to be more team oriented. A manager should always honor God in everything he or she does and should not be afraid to fire an employee. Works CitedAbout.com. Management. 2011.
