The Earth and the Moon are very different for many reasons, but they are also very similar in some ways. Earth is a planet that orbits a star, the sun. The Moon orbits the Earth and is not a planet. The Earth is a "living" and changing planet, while the Moon is a "dead" and immobile planet. The Earth and the Moon have very different surfaces. The Earth's surface is constantly changing. Crust movement, erosion by water and wind, and living organisms all contribute to the changes. Plate tectonics causes the Earth's crust to move and create mountains and volcanoes. The movement of water can cause reshaping, and so can wind when it picks up loose material, both of which impact the Earth. Living organisms change the surface a lot. They are constantly building, moving, and destroying things. The Moon's surface is mostly still. It has no molten core, so there is very little tectonic activity. There is no wind and the small amount of water is buried in the polar areas. There are not even living organisms that can modify the surface. The only major factor in the Moon's change is the impact of meteoroids. They form craters when they hit the surface. Finally, the Earth's surface is very young, because it is constantly changing. The Moon's surface is hundreds of millions or billions of years old. The two atmospheres are also very different. It is believed that the Moon does not have an atmosphere. It has no wind, rain, snow, etc. The Earth has a complex atmosphere. It is composed of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.9% argon, 0.03% carbon dioxide and very small percentages of other elements. The atmosphere also contains water vapor. It is divided into layers: troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, ionosphere and exosphere. Weather and clouds are in the troposphere. The orbital and rotational period of the O...... in the center of the card...... is 27,322 days, which is approximately how many days there are in a month. Both the Moon and Earth have gravity. However, their severity is different. Earth's gravity is 9.78 m/s2. The Moon's gravity is 1,622 m/s2. The Moon's gravity is 83.3% lower than that of the Earth. The Earth and the Moon are also similar. Both are made of rock. Both reflect sunlight. Both get energy from the sun. Even though the Moon orbits the Earth, it still revolves around the Sun, just like the Earth. They also both rotate. Finally, they are both warmed by the sun.Works CitedDaunt, D.. Np. Network.
