Are NYPD Google Glasses a Security Measure or an Invasion of Privacy Several clear cases of abuse of authority by police personnel in the past have spread mistrust and anger among police masses. What could add to this fury is the introduction of Google Glasses, which are speculated to be used for public protection, better surveillance and enhanced police patrolling. The use of Google Glasses by the NYPD still raises serious issues of invasion of privacy and confidentiality as they are perceived as a violation of the Wiretap Act and Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable searches. Despite their much-talked-about benefits, Google Glasses potentially jeopardize people's privacy.
