In my eyes, this theory is very visible through the recent “Black Lives Matter” campaign. The media has a lot of control over how African American and criminal justice populations are viewed within society. For example, when a police officer shoots an African American, each news channel takes a different approach to rationalizing the situation or placing blame on one of the parties involved. One news channel might focus on the events leading up to the shooting, while another news channel might choose to eliminate them from the broadcast clip.
