However, studies have shown that fathers could also be housekeepers. According to Glen Sacks, the author of “Stay at home dads” disputes that “the freedom to change gender roles has allowed each of us to gravitate towards what we really want in life” (Sacks 266). Even though society considers men as the main breadwinner of the house, people tend to define them as unmanly due to changing gender roles. Swapping gender roles is beneficial to fathers because it gives them the opportunity to experience the responsibility traditionally held by mothers in taking care of the home. In fact, fathers could also have a positive impact on the family because they continue to be the guardians of the home. It also gives them a chance to spend time and bond with their children. In today's society it seems that men don't really take on the role of father. If fathers had the chance to put themselves in their wives' shoes, it could offer them a way to understand the role women have played for so long. Changing gender roles offer mothers the opportunity to find work, develop their interpersonal skills and broaden their horizons rather than following the stereotypical perception of cleaning the house, cooking or bringing the baby home.
