Most researchers have found that there is a significant relationship between motivation and social support, within the organization and school. In the organization, a study by Lin and Huang (2011) set out to examine the relationship between achievement motivation and training motivation. Furthermore, the study also analyzed social support from managers and colleagues as moderators to test their effect on the relationship between two variables. In the results, training motivation is significantly influenced by achievement motivation, while social support from managers and colleagues shows a moderating effect in organizations (Lin & Huang, 2011). In schools, Urdan and Schoenfelder (2006) proposed a review article to describe and critically analyze research on contextual influences on student motivation, examining the research from three theoretical perspectives (achievement goal theory, self-determination theory, and social-cognitive theory) and the field of social relationships with teachers and peers. In studies of all three perspectives, the importance of providing students with a sense of ownership in the learning process has been highlighted, and appropriate and challenging academic work will be more likely to improve student motivation. While, psychologists' perspectives on social relationships have found that motivational behavior in school results from a combination of student characteristics and the environment. For example, to encourage “unmotivated” students to participate willingly in academic tasks, it is necessary that the conditions of the tasks conform to their interests, or that they have the opportunity to satisfy social needs through cooperation with friends or support thoughtful of…. .. middle of paper ...... the college enrollment journey, which due to the factors of possible lack of adult role models and knowledge required to assist in successful completion of college. However, non-first-generation college students are said to have higher levels of motivation and are more likely to attend college to earn a higher grade point average. Additionally, researchers have also found that receiving family support is important for students to increase well-being and chances of enrolling in college (Pannell and Olmos, 2012). Overall, studies have shown that motivation will be positively influenced by social factors. support, within the organization and the school. Furthermore, the relationship between motivation and social support will impact differences in outcomes. However, study year and sex differences will persist as areas of concern in our study.
