Lord of the Flies has several themes that are key to understanding the literature. Three of the themes of this novel are fear, courage, and finally survival. Fear was surrounded throughout the novel. With the amount of fear caused by an apparent beast, many people on the island have changed. Most of the boys have become more violent over the course of the novel and have no sense of direction as to what to do next. Jack was one of those people who had changed significantly over the course of the novel. Courage is one of the most important things to have mentally and physically when you are stranded on an unfamiliar island. Ralph's courage in the book became strong when he lost two of his closest companions in Simon and Piggy. Survival is the best theme in this novel simply because of the lack of tools and laziness of the people throughout the book. These themes show how great and wonderful this book is, and if you read it carefully, you will understand the dangers and adventures of Ralph, Jack, and the other boys in Lord of the Flies. everyone's mentality. You only live once, as most people say. However, with Jack, Ralph, and the rest of the boys, it seemed like all hope was lost. They had been stranded on the island for months, hoping that one day someone would find them and bring them home. Ralph was the most panicked person in the group simply because he hadn't cut his hair and it was growing out. He also didn't shower at all and didn't shave or eat much simply due to lack of survival. He had given up hope of being rescued, until in chapter 12, he, along with Jack and the rest of the boys, were rescued by an officer who saw the destruction and ferocious bodies of the... middle of paper ......and for me during my stay in West New York. Just like me, Ralph had the courage to do what was right and didn't give up or stop until Jack's anger and violent ways were over. Many novels have certain themes that can be related to those living in 2013. Lord of the Flies had three key themes in the novel that really caught my attention, namely courage, fear, and survival. Ralph and Jack are the ones that get featured the most when you use these themes. These guys went through everything, but the one thing that impressed me was the effort and survival of these guys, as well as the rest of the group. Lord of the Flies is a book I highly recommend to readers everywhere. Having said that, I thank you for reading and hope you understand that the themes of literature are fundamental and necessary to understanding any novel anywhere in the world..
