Freeman Dyson writes: “Technology is a gift from God. After the gift of life it is perhaps the greatest of God's gifts. It is the mother of civilizations, arts and sciences.” Researchers have shown that the advancement of technology has positively affected society through health, social and educational factors. Around the world, concern about healthcare and treatments is becoming the top priority. The procedures and equipment in which medical care is provided, also known as medical technology, are constantly increasing. Doctors are inventing new ways to perform surgical and medical procedures such as joint replacements, CT scanners and implantable defibrillators. (1). New support systems have been implemented to provide accurate, effective and reliable diagnosis of treatments. Telemedicine, an example of a support system, is the use of medical information exchanged from one site to another through electronic communications. (2). Medical conditions that were incurable at the time are now being treated thanks to advanced medical technology. According to a 2010 article titled “Cancer Advances in Focus,” the mortality rate for women who had breast cancer in 1975 was 31 deaths per 100,000 women. At the time, no genes associated with an increased risk of breast cancer had been identified. The only surgical option available was to have a mastectomy, or remove the breast.
