It portrays an important message in its narrative and I think people need to read it. I thought his life and text were inspiring and important for me to learn and read, since I am so unaware of what was happening in the South to African men and women during this time period. When we read this author's text in class, I felt intrigued to read it. His reading style was more interesting than that of all the other authors we have read in class so far.
