It is very difficult to tell from the article whether or not Matchar truly believes what is written in support of millennials. Maybe it's a parody of previous generations to say “Be selfish, Gen Y! You have the right!” (235), but it seems to contradict his previous statements. The constant repetition that millennials are lazy, reluctant to work, etc. paints a bleak picture of their future for the entire world. Millennials are often portrayed as spoiled rich people who still rely heavily on their parents for everything. This makes them seem childish, and Matchar's questionable use of these terms is still a clear jab at the minority of posters. Overall, Millennials work harder and experience more stress than their predecessors, and the ridicule they endure for their work is misplaced. Thus, the main flaw of the thesis almost entirely overshadows its main one
