Numerous reasons explain the overwhelming success experienced by Genghis Khan and his armies, however complicated weapons were not one of them. The development of this empire began forcibly with invasions into other lands between 1200 and 1400 AD, which branched into another factor that contributed to the formation and expansion of the Mongol Empire. The expansion across Eurasia continued through the invasion of places like China, made possible by the effective military strategies conducted by the army. The Mongols were known to be ruthless and savage unless a community surrendered in due time, thus causing fear and unrest in the eyes of the people of Eurasia. Genghis trained the most effective and disastrous army with the aim of using those military forces as a weapon against rivals and launching successful invasions and sieges (Biran, 2013). Not only did they take advantage of a lethal army, but they used individuals to obtain information before a siege or attack, information that was extracted through violence or cooperation. Therefore these sources would be subjected to torture just to get information about the municipality before attacking so as to plan accordingly.
