Kruger has the same main goal for almost all of his artworks, but with this particular artwork I think it is the most relevant of his idea: “Power is not localized in specific institutions but is dispersed across a multiplicity of places, which operate within the range of discursive procedures that govern sexuality, morality, family, education, and so on. Conceived in this way, power cannot be centralized; rather it is diffuse, decentralized and, consequently, anonymous: it exists less as a “body” than as a network of relationships that unifies social apparatuses and institutions” (Kruger and Linker, p. 27). This quote talks about how difficult it is to point the finger at who or what exactly has this power over you. You can't single out and blame one person for how you feel about a particular issue. “The Man” is not actually real but is instead a combination of social philosophies
