Some students with disabilities I met were some of the kindest, happiest, most caring people I have ever met. They were always smiling and talking to other non-disabled students. My peers would acknowledge their presence and actually engage in conversations with them rather than pretend to care. People sincerely liked these students with disabilities for who they were and not for their outward appearance. I also made it a point to talk to some of these students with disabilities. It made me really happy to always hear them say positive things, smile and laugh. It was really nice to know that non-disabled students sincerely accepted and cared about these students with disabilities. However, not all students with disabilities were like this.
